Dear readers, we are living in the future. I'm so glad that I lived long enough to be served by robot waiters!
Shabu Works is one of the best spots for shabu shabu/hot pot in San Diego. With the new robot service, you give your order with broths and meats to the waiter (up to three meats at a time), and it's brought by a real-life robot.
Shabu Works has been a staple of Mira Mesa for the past few years, with their all-you-can-eat hot pot lunch and dinner.
The restrictions are enforced -- bring a mask, wear it when you leave the table. I'm very happy that they are trying to keep everyone safe!
The offerings at Shabu Works are varied and plentiful. The seafood bar boasts shrimp, crayfish, squid, and fish, just to name a few. All of the food is fresh and replenished often.
The broth varieties go very well with all of meat, vegetables, and noodles offered. Diners are welcome to try up to two broths at a time. I strongly advise getting a spicy broth and non-spicy, just to have a variety.
We chose beef and chicken, and lamb, but there are loads of various meats and combinations to try. With AYCE and such a generous time limit, you really can try everything on the menu.
There is a variety of vegetables to choose from, and I strongly recommend all of them! Everything is better with more vegetables.
Bubble, bubble, toil, and trouble! Much like fondue, hot pot is a meal of cooking what you like in delicious broth for flavor. I highly recommend the spicy Mongolian broth and Tonkatsu broth. The spicy is the best! There is also an entire bar of sauces and other condiments for adding flavor to your meal. It's really up to you!
Shabu Works is open daily for lunch and dinner, and is really kid friendly. It's a great place for families and dates.

We went there a couple years ago to celebrate mother-in-law's birthday. We added multiple flavors to get it really tasty. We do hot pot at home too cuz it's just so good!
