The Hard Rock Cafe in the Gaslamp is gone, leaving a void of rock n' roll restaurants in the neighborhood. But look at that picture of David Bowie on the left. He's got a secret. And the secret is Himmelberg's.
Himmelberg's is San Diego's newest and only rock n' roll restaurant, located in the East Village area of downtown. They feature live bands every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Located just by Petco Park, Himmelberg's is a fun place for a quick bite or drink. We were invited to check out their menu and decor last week, and happily obliged. I started this blog to check out new places, so I'm always happy to find a great new place.
The details: Himmelberg's has a great happy hour, with half off select items Monday through Friday, 3-6 pm.A featured appetizer on this happy hour list is the parmesan garlic tots. These were crispy, salty, and great to munch on throughout our meal. They pair quite well will the beers on the menu, but just as well with a frosty soda.
Another happy hour winner was the popcorn chicken. Popcorn chicken is a no-brainer on being a good bet, but often people forget how lovely it is to pick at a platter of tiny bites of fried chicken with friends.
Is there a better bar sandwich than a cheesesteak or French dip? This roll stuffed with cheesy meat is just the thing to fill you up before listening to a great band all night. Paired with a jalapeño cheese sauce, and it is great with the parmesan tots!
The Maverick salad is really an essential San Diego entree. Of course, there are avocados, but there are also beans, sweet tomatoes, and sweet corn, all on top of lettuce with a cumin dressing, with a layer of quinoa and rice underneath. This salad was so filling. It's named Maverick!
Himmelberg's is open 7 days a week, serving lunch and dinner in the Gaslamp!

figured I'd ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a blog article
or vice-versa? My blog covers a lot of the same topics as yours and I feel we could
