Remember that amazing pic of an ahi tostada that I shared on Instagram a few weeks ago? The good news is that Romesco Cocina in Little Italy is open!
Replacing Bracero Cocina, Romesco is serving a mixture of favorite Bracero items and some new, exciting flavors with their new menu.
Recently, Romesco Cocina has added a brunch for weekends from 11-3. Mixing some items from the Romesco lunch and breakfast menus, the offerings are generous and varied. Brunch entails everything from the tacos to huevos rancheros.
And what's brunch without mimosas? Bottomless mimosas are offered with premium orange juice and sparkling wine.
Of course we started out with the amazing Roadside Ahi Tuna Tostada! This is my favorite type of food -- fresh and light, but completely satisfying and full of flavor. Fresh, huge chunks of tuna are stacked onto a crispy tortilla with guacamole, lettuce, and crema. It is one of the best things that I've ever eaten.
If you go to brunch hungry, and I imagine that you usually do, Romesco has the fix with the Combo El Especial. With chilaquiles verde, homemade machaca, refried beans, potatoes, eggs, and tortillas, it's impossible to step away from this meal hungry. The chilaquiles are some of the best that I've tasted, with a tangy, lime green salsa that is perfect over the tortilla chips.
If you're in the mood for something sweet, and who isn't at brunch, the Mex-Toast is a delicious option. A lighter French toast, served with berries and dusted with powdered sugar, it's just sweet enough without being cloying.
