Feeding the Soul with Dream Foundation and Mission Healthcare

This last Saturday, I was lucky enough to attend an event supporting one of my favorite local causes, Feeding the Soul.

Feeding the Soul is dedicated to using music and food to help those in need. From their website:

Feeding the Soul is a foundation. Our fund-raising events support other charities and causes, and each show or series has a chosen beneficiary. Our mission emphasizes both food (feeding the hungry, promoting food / nutrition education and outreach) and music (supporting and supplementing arts classes in schools, promoting local artists and musicians), but we do not restrict the kinds of charities to which we donate. In some instances, we design an event for artists inspired by a particular cause or organization, or select artists for a cause that inspires us.

This past Saturday, a wonderful event was held at Mission Healthcare’s grounds, right in the heart of Mission Valley. The mission: benefit the Dream Foundation, the first and largest national wish-granting organization for adults with life-threatening illnesses.

Performers included Bushwalla and Cody Lovaas, local San Diegans with lots of talent and heart, that have worked with this wonderful foundation many, many times.

Accompanying the great music was also some treats in the form of local bottled water from Solar Rain. Made with purified ocean water, it was very nice to taste this great water and cool off from the dry heat.

Among other treats were sushi and Nothing Bundt cakes! These cakes are probably my favorite local bakery cakes. The flavor for the day was lemon with lemon buttercream. The texture is so light and good, and the buttercream has the perfect texture and flavor.

After taking in some treats, we enjoyed the concert. A perfect way to spend a Saturday, supporting a great cause and having fun all the while!
