La Victoria Turns 100!

La Victoria, one of the best brands for salsa, enchilada sauce, and taco sauce, and hot sauce, has turned 100! To celebrate, the brand hosted an art contest and dinner last Thursday at the Junipero Serra Museum. This post will be quite picture-heavy, as there was a lot going on, and I want to share every last bit!

I've never been to the Junipero Serra, but it's a marvelous place, full of history and a great view!

Wine, chips, and La Victoria salsas were served for a cocktail hour.

The evening began with a cocktail hour and viewing of the innovative art submitted for the contest. Five finalists were chosen to compete for the top prizes: $7500, $1500, and $1000 for first, second, and third places, respectively.

Shrimp taco with La Victoria habanero mango salsa!

Caesar salad is always a great start!

Sofrito pasta with La Victoria jalapenos --- unusual, but very good!
Octopus tostada with La Victoria black bean salsa verde -- so fresh and tasty!
Pork shoulder with La Victoria salsa cilantro and pinto beans was my favorite of our three tasting entrees.
Vegetable tamale with La Victoria red enchilada sauce. So perfect and delicious!
Two traditional desserts followed! Arroz con leche (rice pudding) with raisins and cinnamon, and a bit of anise spice was first, but I think that everyone's favorite was the churros with Mexican chocolate sauce (below). How can you resist fried cinnamon fritters with chocolate?
