A collective “cheers” is in order this Thursday, August 1 for IPA Day. Thirsty Thursday’s shining star is the India Pale Ale, which varies in taste from coast-to-coast. American IPAs differ from English IPAs in color and finish. The first-ever Double IPA, also called an Imperial IPA, originated up the road at a Temecula-area brewery. According to online resource, DrinkWiththeWench.com, “An IPA represents the pinnacle of brewing innovation because it includes a broad spectrum of brands, subcategories and regional flavor variations.” According to the site, #IPAday generated more than 10 million impressions on Twitter during last year’s celebrations.

“My favorite IPA is the Manzanita Chaotic Double IPA. It packs a punch but isn’t aggressively hoppy even though it has an alcohol content of 10.11. Plus, it’s local and we love to support the local breweries at West Coast Tavern.”-Paris Landen, General Manager, West Coast Tavern

"The Helm's Brewing "Hop the RIPA" is interesting not only because of its non-standard Red India Pale Ale origin, but the combination that is going on between the maltiness and the hoppiness. You get that creamy texture and flavor of deep malts with hints of caramel and rye spice, but balanced with a good citrus hop flavor and aroma."- Pete Ricciardelli, Bar Manger, True North Tavern

"When I get in a beer drinking mood, I like to drink Green Flash West Coast IPA. It is locally brewed, and has a great citrus bitterness to it!"-Vito LaMagese, Manager, Pacific Beach Shore Club

"Stone IPA is a masterpiece in the art of brewing. It has a smooth flavor with enough hops on the finish to remind you that you are drinking beer." Nathan Wing, Manager, Toscana Café and Wine Bar
